The Division oversees the 911 Communications and Dispatch Center, the Office of Emergency Management, and the Hazardous Materials Response Team. In its duties, the Division is assisted by the Local Emergency Planning Committee.
Annually, any facilities using hazardous substances in the County must submit a list that identifies and quantifies them. These lists are reviewed by the Committee, and forwarded to local first responders and the State Emergency Response Commission. Copies of the lists are available from the Committee (U.S. Code, Title 42, secs. 9601-9675).
The Deputy State Fire Marshal is appointed by the State Fire Marshal (Public Safety Article, sec. 6-303).
