Served in U.S. Army, 1973-79 (judge advocate general's corps; parachutist badge; meritorious service medal; army commendation medal; army achievement medal; U.S. Army Reserve, 1979-84, 1988-2001). Attorney in private practice, 1984-97. Adjunct faculty, University of Maryland School of Law, and University of Baltimore School of Law. Author, numerous books and articles on evidence, procedure, and trial practice. Co-author, Discovery Problems and Their Solutions, 2004; Discovery: Problems and Solutions, March 2005. Distinguished Service Award, Maryland Institute for the Continuing Professional Education of Lawyers, 1998. Legal Excellence Award for the Advancement of Professional Competence, Maryland Bar Foundation, 2001. Outstanding Adjunct Professor of the Year, University of Maryland School of Law, 2002, 2006. Maryland Leadership in Law Award, Daily Record, 2004.
