The Fort George G. Meade Regional Growth Management Committee was created by the Anne Arundel County Executive in March 2007 (Executive Order no. 18) to monitor infrastructure and growth issues, such as housing availability, utilities, public services, and education associated with the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC).
In October 2008, the Committee reformed under a memorandum of understanding signed by Baltimore City, and Laurel, and eight counties: Anne Arundel; Baltimore; Carroll; Howard; Montgomery; Prince George's; Queen Anne's; and Talbot. Although BRAC ended in 2011, the Committee continues to identify and address the regional impact and opportunities associated with the growth at Fort George G. Meade.
The Committee is funded through a grant from the Office of Economic Adjustment of the U.S. Department of Defense.
