In 1985, the Pricing and Selection Committee for the Employment Works Program began as the Pricing and Selection Committee for Rehabilitation and Employment Programs (Chapter 735, Acts of 1985). The Committee was restructured under its present name in July 2008 (Chapters 576 & 577, Acts of 2008).

Through the Employment Works Program, the Committee establishes procedures for the procurement of supplies and services from community service providers and individuals with disability-owned businesses, and maintains a list of those accredited by the Division of Rehabilitation Services in the State Department of Education (Chapters 574 & 575, Acts of 2008). Such providers employ persons to provide goods and services who are significantly barred from competitive employment by a mental or physical disability.

Six ex officio members constitute the Committee (Code State Finance and Procurement Article, secs. 14-106 through 14-108).
