Appointed by the Governor, the Special Secretary of Minority Affairs directs the Office (Code State Government Article, secs. 9-301 through 9-306).
Formerly located at William Donald Schaefer Tower, 6 St. Paul Street, Baltimore, the Office of Minority Affairs moved to its present site in Crownsville on May 23, 2016.
The Office is aided by the Interdepartmental Advisory Committee for Minority Affairs.
Twenty ex officio members constitute the Committee (Code State Government Article, sec. 9-303.1).

INTERDEPARTMENTAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR MINORITY AFFAIRS
The Interdepartmental Advisory Committee for Minority Affairs formed within the Office of Minority Affairs in 1986 (Chapter 719, Acts of 1986). The Committee advises the Special Secretary of Minority Affairs on proposals to promote minority businesses in Maryland and the hiring of minority persons in the State.
